Croatia's islands are well served by car ferries — but each island has its own gateway port, and in August the vehicle decks fill up. Here's the map in words.

Beating the queues

  • In July and August, arrive at the port well before departure — vehicle space sells out even when foot passengers still board freely.
  • Fares depend on vehicle size and passengers; check the operator's price list when you book.
  • The fast catamarans never take cars — if a crossing is listed as foot-passenger only, plan to park on the mainland.
  • Mid-week and early-morning sailings are consistently quieter than Saturday changeover days.
